antique card file box

It’s no secret that I love containers (Chris even had to make a ‘container’ category in our budget). And I love to organize. And re-organize.

I recently discovered it’s in my blood.

The Scoville brothers (my dad’s great uncles) were entrepreneurs to say the least. In the early 1900′s they ran a broom factory, a bindery and press, wrote and published music – just to name a few. Check these out:

The Broom Factory.

One of their advertisements.

A bit of the price list.

And the press, of course!

One of my favorite ideas they marketed was called “Scoville System Saves Seconds”. My dad is lucky to have one.

Some of the tabs read: What I should know, expressions, book guide, ledgers, addresses, prices and quotations, systems and suggestions, vocabulary. The wooden box is beautiful. I’m sure if I had one, it would save me some seconds.
