handmade christmas

It’s time to start making the Christmas presents for my kiddos. I love this part of the holidays. I’ll keep you posted on how the projects are coming–I hope to have everything completed before Thanksgiving. But that never happens. It’s worth a try, right?

I am putting together a dress up box for the boys. My three-year-old loves pretend play and my one-year-old loves to accessorize. I’ve linked to the tutorials I plan on using to make some of the items. Here’s what’s on my list so far:

+ kiddo capes
+ beards
+ tool/sword belt
+ swords & armor
+ hats
+ crazy glasses

Do you have a dress up box? What else should I include?

We have a few sheriff and Indian type things–the kids really love those! Tin Foil Cardboard stars and an Indian feather headress could work. And someday if you have a girl that will add a whole new dimension to dress-up! :)

The book The Creative Family by Amanda Blake Soule is inspirational to me. You should see if your library has it. Thankfully mine did. The catalog Nova Natural Toys and crafts is phenomenonal. I love this knit hat so I bot is because I can’t knit but I am going to try to replicate the tunic and the shield.
